Chinese Cloisonne Bowl Large Antique Enamel Stunning Unusual Shape

  

A lovely big bowl of unusual shape with 16 bulbous panels running around the circumference. Cloisonne is an enameling technique in which the pattern is formed by wires soldered to the surface of the object to be decorated, which is usually made from copper, forming cells or cloisons, each of which holds a single colour of enamel paste which is then fired, and ground and polished.

Overall good condition for the age. It has the usual areas of small pitting in the enamel as is normal for cloisonne of this era. Weight approx 1100 grams or 1.1kg.
